Central Ohio almost has an ideal climate for having quality lawns.

Our springs usually have plenty of rainfall and cool temperatures which are perfect for growing grass.

While Ohio does occasionally experience extremely hot summers, for the most part, it does not go to extremes. That means that grass continues to grow throughout the summer months.

And of course, the fall is ideal for improving our lawns so they'll be even thicker and healthier next year.

The Central Ohio lawns that work best are the cool-season grass types. These include mainly bluegrass and fescues.

Warm season grasses do not do well here. That especially includes Zoysia grass which we sometimes see in advertisements as being the best type of lawn.

Zoysia is good, if you live in a warm climate. However, here in Ohio, we typically have cool springs and falls. When temperatures drop below 50 degrees, zoysia turns to straw and will stay brown till temperatures return to 60 or higher.
